Karen Mansfield & The Asbury Park Love Contingent Cover Melanie For Benefit Single

Singer-songwriter Karen Mansfield and producer Steve Greenwell, gathered local musicians together from the Asbury Park, New Jersey music scene to record their version of the 1970 classic written and made famous by Melanie Safka. The collaboration is called The Asbury Park Love Contingent, and their rendition of "Lay Down (Candles in the Rain)” will be out July 10, 2020 through Deko Entertainment.

Vocals are Karen Mansfield, Emily Grove and Tara Dente. Acoustic guitar is Tara Dente, Jack Daley (bass), Mikael Jorgensen (Rhodes), Arlan Feiles (piano), Jules Drucker (guitar) and Santo Rizzolo (drums).

Mansfield says, “If this song can help people remember that the most important thing is that each of us has love and good inside. If we can let that shine in these dark times then we are doing our part, we are doing the right thing.”

“Lay Down (Candles in the Rain)” was produced & mixed by Steve Greenwell and recorded remotely by each artist during the pandemic lockdown.

All proceeds go to help the Jersey Shore Rescue Mission and their efforts to help the homeless in Asbury Park.
