CHO-ZEN FEW: Future Proof and a Sound of Their Own

Formed in late 2023 in Superior, Arizona, CHO-ZEN FEW brings together three experienced musicians with decades of work across the United States, Europe, the Caribbean, and beyond. The trio features Ruben Riera on woodwinds, Steve Mitchell on bass, and Paul Sears on drums, creating a lineup built on diverse musical backgrounds and years of live and studio experience.
Riera has performed extensively throughout the New York City area, the Caribbean, and Arizona, exploring a wide range of musical styles. Mitchell brings decades of experience performing with rock bands in Germany and Arizona, while Sears has built an impressive career performing and recording throughout the United States and Europe, appearing on more than 200 recordings.
That experience comes together on the band's debut album, Future Proof, released through Deko Entertainment. The album features 13 tracks that move through an adventurous mix of progressive, experimental, jazz, and rock influences. The project also features contributions from Tenk Van Dool as producer and instrumentalist and Dave Newhouse as an instrumentalist and composer.
One of the album's standout tracks, “Chernobyl Cheese,” received an official music video in 2025, giving listeners another introduction to the band's unconventional approach to music.
With Future Proof, CHO-ZEN FEW establishes themselves as a group unafraid to explore different sounds and push beyond traditional genre boundaries. Their combination of seasoned musicianship, experimentation, and an eclectic approach makes them a compelling new addition to the progressive and experimental music scene.
